The Cavaliers Win a Back-And-Forth Affair Against Powhatan
The Cavaliers defeated Powhatan 11-4 in a come from behind effort on Monday.
The Cavaliers captured the early lead in the first inning. David Coppedge drove in His first RBI of the day when he singled in the first.
Powhatan scored three runs in the third inning, but the Cavaliers still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Powhatan came thanks to a double by Brad Painter and a home run by Ross Lewis.
The Cavalier fifth was the difference in the Clover Hill victory. The Cavs scored 10 runs on 7 hits in the fifth.
David Wallace earned the win for the Cavaliers. He threw seven innings, allowing four runs, six hits, striking out two, and walking one. Ty Hicks took the loss for Powhatan. He went, allowing six runs, five hits, and walking zero.
Dillon Hall started the game for Powhatan. He pitched four innings, surrendering one run, two hits, and striking out three.
The Cavaliers collected nine hits. Coppedge and Ethan Badin each collected multiple hits for the Cavaliers. Coppedge and Khie Simms each drove in two runs to lead the Cavaliers.
Lewis went 2-for-3 at the plate as he led the Indians with two runs batted in.
The Cavaliers improve their record to 3-4 with one game left before spring break.
