The Cavaliers grabbed an early lead on their way to a 15-3 victory over L.C Bird on Tuesday. The Cavaliers scored 5 runs in the first to set the tone for the game.
In the first, the Cavs scored two runs on a single by David Coppedge. Jakob Burns forced an error on a hard ground ball to shortstop scoring Khie Simms and Coppedge.
The Cavalier fifth was charged by seven hits – Singles by Coppedge, Burns, Bailey Burcume, Bryce Holyfield, Ethan Badin, and William Toth. Khie simms capped off the hitting onslaught with a two RBI triple to center field.
Ben Lake earned the win for the Cavaliers. He went five innings, allowing three runs, six hits, striking out one, and walking one. Bell took the loss for L.C Bird. He pitched four and two-thirds innings, giving up 14 runs, nine hits, and striking out one.
The Cavaliers collected 11 hits. Badin and Coppedge each collected multiple hits – Badin was 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI’s while Coppedge went 2-for-3 at the plate as he led the team with three runs batted in.
