The Cavs were able to hold on to a one run lead to defeat Powhatan 2-1 on Monday night.
The Cavaliers scored with two outs in the top of the first when Jakob Burns hit a flare over second base to score Zach young. The Inidans tied it up in their half of the first on an infield error.
In the fourth, the Cavs manufactured a run when Bryce Holyfield hit a hard ground ball scoring Sean Hallinan.
The superior effort on the mound by Cole Driscoll was the difference in the game for the Cavaliers. He threw six innings, surrendering one run, three hits, and striking out seven. Burns recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Clover Hill.
The Cavs improve to 8-10 on the season with two games left in the regular season. The Cavs will face off against James River today at 4:30.
