Cavaliers News · March Athlete of the Month Nominations

Clover Hill Athletics would like to recognize our Student-Athlete’s hard work and dedication.  After a rainy March Month the following student-athletes were recognized by their respective coach as having outstanding performances during the month.  Congratulations go out to all the nominees.

March Athlete of the Month

Boys Track:  Andrew Sundra- Last Saturday Andrew won two events at the Charles City Invitational Track Meet. Andrew won the shot put with a throw of 46 feet 6 inches and won the discus with a throw of 146 feet. The discus throw automatically qualified him for the 6A State track meet.

Baseball:  Bailey Burcume-  Bailey has been our catcher for the past 2 seasons and is an absolute stud behind the plate.  This year he is also doing it with the bat. Through 3 games bailey is batting .500 and is leading the team with 3 RBI’s.  Bailey collected 2 of his RBI’s with a clutch double in our win over Patrick Henry. Only 2 guys have tried stealing on bailey in our 3 games.  Bailey has picked off 3 runners – demonstrating his arm strength and establishing a reputation behind the plate.

Boys Lacrosse:  Julian Ruiz (11th grade; goalie): Julian is the backbone of the Clover Hill Varsity Men’s Lacrosse team. His leadership is invaluable, and his skill in the cage has single-handedly taken over games. In 3 games against Cosby, Lee Davis and James River, Julian recorded 7, 12 and 10 saves, bring his season average to 9.4 saves per game.

Boys Tennis:  Junior Kishu Chaudry – has a 3-1 singles record for the start of the season, only loss was to #1 player from Deep Run High School (ranked in top 3 in area), has a 2-0 record in doubles.

Girls Lacrosse:   Rachel Williams – Captain (2 years), Varsity starter (3 years)…Rachel is a true leader on and off of the field. With 34 players this year and no assistant, Rachel is my right hand girl. She helps plan and implement practice everyday. She communicates team expectations for me. She is a true role model for the younger players. She is one of the top defenders in the area. She is an all around great person.

Girls Track:  Lilianna Morris-  Lilianna regularly accepts new challenges and surpasses them.  She is a very energetic athlete.

Softball:  Madi Williams 2 for 3 ,2 RBIs against one of the best pitchers in district . Goes 100% all the time. Freshman

Girls Soccer:  Morgan Necessary 11th Varsity Girls Soccer-  Morgan scored 3 goals against Manchester for our 5-1 victory.  Morgan knows where to be on the field and can finish very well.  She is a big asset to our team.

Winners are determined by a vote of all coaches and will be announced Friday afternoon.  Each winner will receive a gift package that our Athletic Boosters Helped Sponsor.
